Looking forward to returning to this very special home from home, hopefully next time with more friends to share it with and make the most of the space there! Wonderfully comfortable bed, nice to have a bath for ultimate relaxation and great drawing room area downstairs. Loved sampling the local pubs and restaurants all within walking distance in Bampton - unusual in rural Devon!

When you go to a restaurant you hope that the welcome is warm, the decor is smart, the ambiance is just right, and the waiting staff are on point. You hope that they know both what's on the menu and how it is served. You hope that the menu speaks quality, is varied, that the ingredients are locally sourced, that the quality of the food is superb, that it is cooked well, presented well, and tastes delicious. At the end of the meal you hope you'll feel so comfortable and satisfied that you just want to do it all over again because it was so good. You want to feel that the waiting staff were friendly, attentive, efficient and proud of what they do. When you settle your bill you cannot help but leave a generous tip, you look at the cost and think "that was worth every penny." On the way home you talk constantly about just how good the whole experience was and then think carefully that if you post a really good review about the restaurant everyone will want to go. Will we ever be able to get in again because you know that this restaurant could soon be the best in Devon. What I have described here IS The Ginger Peanut. For example, the 7 oz fillet steak was cooked to perfection and so tender I could have cut it with a butter knife. The chips were cooked with truffle oil, accompanied by vine tomatoes, a generous jug of (proper) peppercorn sauce, tasty green vegetables, and I just didn't want it end. This restaurant surpasses anything we've experienced in Somerset and Devon so far and we dine out a lot. Peter Mundy - respect! Thank you. Well done. Keep it up. Keep your chefs and your superb waiting staff. Keep your feet on the ground and watch with a smile as you become the best restaurant in Devon. Will we ever manage to get another reservation again once this review reaches out?

We had a superb dinner last Saturday night, I was very impressed by such a hidden gem. The decor is incredibly homely but at the same time contemporary. The food was delicious; large portions and very tasty down to the sticky toffee pudding that I shared with my chum. I would highly recommend the GP!

I've never stayed in a hotel without a reception before. It made it like using an Air bnb but with the simplicity of a hotel. But unlike a typical hotel there is also a dining room and kitchen for use by guests. It's all beautifully styled and comfortable. We had a small problem with the temperature of the room which was sorted out quickly with a phone call.

A brilliant find! We came across Ginger Peanut when looking for accommodation near Bampton and came across this beautiful boutique style townhouse. Contemporary/classic interior decoration, comfortable beds, spacious, classy and cool. We felt very much at home and could explore our surroundings, go for lovely walks, eat out in the local restaurants. I can't recommend Ginger Peanut enough - and great affordable price. We will be back. Thank you.

Accommodation Review. We stayed here for several days. Fantastic service from Chris and his team. Very clean and comfortable. We took the rooms "Rabbit" and "Hare" which have been decorated to a high standard. Good advice given on the local town by Chris, and he was happy for us to keep our luggage in the store room the last day. The window in Hare is near the bed, but actually there seemed to be zero noise from 10.30pm onwards from outside. Rabbit has windows in both room and bathroom. Seems to be some very high quality tea/coffee-making facilities on-site. Also there is a lovely games room downstairs which we made good use of - huge table and lots of comfy chairs and nice background music. Plus a choice of classic games (Scrabble, Backgammon, Chess, Monopoly). Small negatives: Not much soundproofing to the corridor, although there was no disturbance from other guests during our stay. Also the big bed is two doubles and could do with a topper to make the join less noticeable (but I was only one using it so didn't really notice it much). Overall - we were very happy to have stayed here.

Wonderful to have such a stylish restaurant with rooms close by and yet also within easy distance of Exmoor and all it has to offer. The food was super, staff friendly, cheerful and obliging and rooms were incredibly comfortable, modern and clean. A great bolt hole for a weekend stay or just pop in for lunch - the ambience is great. Cannot recommend highly enough.
